Power Production Sinks Below the Surface October 21, 2009

Why control the flow of a river when you can work with it?
A new idea has surfaced in sustainable technology that may
very well change our reliance on land-based energy.

Our planet is 70% water. Why not put it to some good use?
Taking the idea of wind turbines, rotors pushed by the flow of air,
and applying it to the more reliable and constant movement of water,
a new source of energy is produced.

The plan so far is to install the first of hopefully many
of these underwater wind turbines in New York's East City River.

What a fantastic idea! It’s about time we began using the renewable resources we do have. I can’t believe it’s taken this long to think of.
